Men Don't Care About Luxury Lingerie!

"Yeah it's sexy, but I'd rather see a woman fully naked or in nothing but my T-shirt to be honest." is what a good guy friend of mine said when I asked him what his thoughts on lingerie were. I was deeply offended.

"I'm not really into lingerie, I think a woman is most beautiful in her purest form, naked." remarked my personal trainer who is as heterosexual as heterosexual males get lol. Again, I was annoyed.

Just as annoyed as I am when I hear someone consider Victoria's Secret underwear, skin care, and business ethics to actually be acceptable. (All shade intended.)

I wasn't bothered because I expect all men to swoon and fall at our feet for lingerie - as I've made it clear many times before, lingerie shouldn't be worn solely for the pleasure of men. What pissed me off was their nonchalance towards the craftsmanship, intricacy, and all that goes into making a piece. Which is only part of what makes lingerie so damn special.

It's like saying "Yeah paint is cool but I'm fine with the blank canvas" (at least in my opinion). While I absolutely adore my naked body, lingerie feels like a suit of armor, or ritualistic adornment. I was especially annoyed at their overall expectation that it is simply to be worn for them and for sex appeal. WRONG.

It wasn't the first time I've heard men nonchalantly express their lack of interest and/or understanding of lingerie. This prompted me to do some research both online and in person regarding the opinions and perspectives heterosexual men had in regards to women wearing lingerie. And I found out most of them prefer the naked body. Check out this article by Elite Daily based on an interview with 15 men.

Generally speaking, the majority of straight males could care less for the lace appliques, biased cut straps, carefully sourced hard ware, and double stitching. It's coming off any way! (That's their attitude.)

I thought back to my days as a Sales Associate & Fit Specialist at the luxury lingerie store Journelle, remembering the very few men who actually shopped with their women and even fewer who gathered up the courage to shop alone.

"Uhuh, that's nice." was the generic response to almost everything put in front of their faces. It's not that they lacked interests, as most of them looked completely mesmerized while imagining their partner in the garments they were shown, they just didn't take the time out to notice the texture of the pieces, to acknowledge the complexity of the details, to admire its stitching, durability, and so many other factors that we do when taking the time out to carefully select the perfect lingerie piece for ourselves. Most men are unable to (neither really care to) appreciate the art and aesthetic of luxurious well-made lingerie.

My ex-fiance couldn't tell the difference between $14 stay-ups from Amazon and my divinely crafted Wolfords. I always had to quickly remind him which ones he was allowed to literally tear off and which ones no to. Which resulted in me yelling "No these are the expensive ones!" often-times. Sometimes not soon enough before they were destroyed.

I've written this blog not to rant about how men should care about the sequins on your Chantelle briefs, but for several reasons mainly centered around why you should buy lingerie for yourself.

#1 To save you money. if you're simply interested in luxury lingerie with the thought of a man being whoa'd by it. Girl BYE. ( they can't tell the difference between hand cut Italian lace panties crafted in Portugal vs. wear & tear panties from Forever 21 mass-produced in Bangladesh.) You better not spend hundreds on gorgeous sets just for a mans temporary attention/satisfaction!.... Unless he's willing to buy it of course.

#2 To make the point that lingerie can be worn for you. Lingerie's sexy stigma isn't solely based on the lingerie itself but also the sexual confidence women get when they are in it. Take that confidence and apply it ELSEWHERE. #Self-Love is more than just a movement, it's a life style and beautiful lingerie for yourself definitely fits it.

#3 To prove you don't have to have a man to wear beautiful lingerie. Luxury Lingerie is an art. When you begin to learn more about the feel, fit, and details along with all that goes into crafting it you no longer wear it for the purpose of it being a spectacle, but rather for your own personal reasons. Whether it be for an extra confidence boost, for the style and creativity, or unique feeling.

Yes many men may swoon over a picture of a woman in lingerie, simply because they allow their thoughts to run wild but it's almost never due to the lingerie itself. If you're a girl who's already in love with lingerie then go ahead wear it for him! I've met many men who have also said they never had a woman wear it in the bedroom so go be a unicorn.

However, if you aren't a lingerie lover... yet (because you will be once you're hooked on this blog, then don't go purchasing a bunch of Bordelle thinking it's the way to win his heart. Granted, some men who are really into role play and/or have an acquired taste and understanding of intimates may prefer a women in such but that is RARE to find. And if you have found or are a man who is into such then you are #BLESSED.
